Project - Donation of 5 cycles
After the launch of the signature project, Pedal away - gift a cycle, on July 3rd, the rotary club of Chennai Bharathi, in collaboration with WCCG ( we are the Chennai Cycling Group), donated the second set of 5 cycles to livelihood women on August 20, 2023.
*About the beneficiaries:*
Ms. Radhika and Ms. Jothi are caretakers of Sevalayas Old Age home. Ms. Bhuvaneswari is a primary school teacher, and Ms. Nirmala is a Montessori teacher at Sevalayas school. Ms. Jeeva works as a servant maid and lives in Palavakkam, Chennai. All these women used to either walk 5 to 6 km one way to their work or had to depend on someone to reach their workplace and could not go on time.
These wheels will trigger a change in their lives and it saw smiles on their faces.
We were blessed to have the presence of the Guest of honor, Rtn. Rajasekhar, Chairman - Community Service Development, RI District 3232. In his address, he enlightened the power of Rotary. His presence humbles us.
This event occurred in the presence of the President of RC Chennai, Bharathi Rtn. Dr. Jayashree Kadambi, Club Secretary Rtn. Sujatha, Director -youth service Rtn. Rajeswari Duraipandian and Chairman - women empowerment Rtn. Santhi Rajkumar.
We want to express our gratitude to Deepa and the entire team from WCCG for being the pillars of support, and a special thanks to Shoppe Sevalaya for providing us with the venue to distribute the cycles.
