WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK AUG 1 ? AUG 7
?The easiest way to reduce preventable diseases in babies is BREASTFEEDING.? To mark the occasion of world breastfeeding week, the Rotary Club of Chennai Bharathi participated in this celebration with maternal health, community service health, district 3232.
We distributed kits to 6 post-natal mothers worth Rs. 3000/- including nighties, diapers, health drinks, and wet wipes. The maternity kit was distributed on August 3, 2023, at the Government Childrens Hospital, Egmore.
Over 80 mothers and their newborns have been taken care of diligently by the nurses and staff of the hospital. It was heartwarming and soulful to see all the little Angels.
Art, music, and theatre are the best modes of communication. The occasion was even more special as the president witnessed the celebrations organized for expectant and postnatal mothers. This event included villu pattu, mimes, and skits that conveyed the importance of breastfeeding. First and final-year students from the Madras Medical College volunteered to entertain the mothers and give them the message.
Dr. Gangadharan was the pillar behind the success of this event. It was also a blessing for the president Dr. Jayashree to be recognized by dignitaries ( Prof.Dr. Rema Chandramohan, Director and Professor, Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, and Prof. Dr. C. N. Kamalarathinam HOD Neonatology) from the hospital and field of medicine. We thank all our good Samaritans and philanthropists who made this event successful
